Xi Jinping Advocates for Green Development and Ecological Conservation

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasizes the importance of green development and ecological conservation during his visit to Ulanqab.

Ulanqab, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Chinese President Xi Jinping underscored the importance of prioritizing environmental protection and advancing green development during his visit to Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, on October 16. He stated that green development is a crucial component of high-quality growth and called for better coordination between economic advancement and ecological conservation.

During his visit, Xi emphasized the need for integrated protection and systematic management of natural resources, including mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and deserts. He advocated for reducing carbon emissions and pollution while expanding green areas to ensure that economic growth aligns with environmental preservation.

Xi also inspected Huangchihai Lake, an inland body of water that had faced severe drying due to climate and other factors. Thanks to extensive environmental management efforts over the years, the lake’s water area has gradually been restored and expanded.

In discussions with local officials at the Huangchihai Nature Reserve, the president sought updates on environmental protection initiatives, lake restoration efforts, and ecosystem rehabilitation. He highlighted that safeguarding the fundamental ecology of wetlands is paramount and emphasized the need to respect, work in harmony with, and protect nature. Xi urged strict enforcement of wetland conservation laws and adherence to ecological preservation limits, stressing the importance of enhancing ecosystem quality and stability while maintaining biodiversity.

He pointed out that in wetlands where the ecosystem has weakened, natural restoration should be prioritized. He also acknowledged that scientific interventions could be applied when necessary.

Following this, Xi visited the Chahar High-Tech Development Zone, rich in natural resources. The region has made significant progress in developing a green computing industry, leveraging its advantages in green energy, climate, and geographical positioning. At the exhibition hall of the high-tech zone, he learned about efforts to promote the “East Data, West Computing” project and the establishment of key centers for the green computing industry in Inner Mongolia.

Xi emphasized the need for scientific planning, adequate resource allocation, and ensuring safety. He called for efficient operation of completed projects and timely completion of ongoing initiatives.

In addition to engaging with project leaders, technical experts, and staff, Xi noted that the computing power network is one of six major networks being developed under China’s national plan. He expressed optimism about the rapid advancement of the computing power industry and its broad potential for growth. He urged all stakeholders to strictly adhere to standards of efficiency, environmental protection, and safety, while enhancing the synergy between computing and energy supply and focusing on efficient water resource utilization.

Moreover, Xi reviewed a local exhibition of agricultural and livestock products, gathering information on key product varieties and quality characteristics. He instructed local officials to improve coordination between production and sales to enhance the income of farmers and herders, ultimately promoting their prosperity.
