White Sox Minor League Update: April 5, 2026

Nashville, April 6:

Nashville Sounds 7, Charlotte Knights 5 (Gameday Box)
Tanner McDougal faced control issues with four walks but managed to allow only one run from a solo home run in the fourth inning. He gave up two hits and struck out three over five innings. Unfortunately, the bullpen squandered a 5-1 lead, resulting in a loss for the Knights, who fell to the Sounds, 7-5.

Despite Charlotte outhitting Nashville 9-6 and scoring five runs in the first five innings, the bullpen struggled. Three of the four pitchers allowed at least two runs, with Wikelman González being the exception, tossing a clean inning with one strikeout. Nashville, trailing for most of the game, surged back with four runs in the bottom of the eighth to reclaim the lead.

Three Knights recorded two or more hits, and three players hit doubles, but the team struggled with runners in scoring position, going 3-for-19 and leaving 10 on base. Sam Antonacci reached base three times, going 1-for-2 with two walks. Drew Romo was the only Charlotte batter to drive in more than one run. Jacob Gonzalez had a standout performance, going 2-for-4 with a run, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base.

Birmingham Barons 10, Knoxville Smokies 5 (Gameday Box)
The Birmingham offense exploded with 12 hits, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings, securing their second win of the season against the Smokies, 10-5. Lefthander Shane Murphy started for Birmingham, allowing five hits and striking out six over five innings, with a two-run home run being the only blemish.

The Barons showcased their power, hitting six doubles among their 12 hits. Caden Connor and Calvin Harris were particularly impressive, contributing to seven of Birmingham’s runs. The team went 7-for-16 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight more on base. Braden Montgomery struggled at the plate (0-for-3) but still managed to reach base twice and scored once.

Righthander Mark McLaughlin allowed two runs to the Smokies in the eighth, but the rest of the pitching staff performed well. Jake Bockenstedt and Jacob Heatherly combined for three solid innings, with Heatherly striking out three in the ninth.

Bowling Green Hot Rods 6, Winston-Salem Dash 2 — Opener (Gameday Box)
In the opener of their Easter doubleheader, starting pitcher Dylan Cumming struggled for the Dash, lasting just one out and allowing four runs (three earned). The Winston-Salem offense was quiet until late in the game, ultimately losing to the Hot Rods, 6-2.

Cumming quickly loaded the bases in the first inning, leading to a two-run double for Bowling Green. He managed to force one ground out but surrendered another run after back-to-back walks. Jake Curtis, who replaced him, also struggled, allowing another run before settling down for two decent innings.

The Dash managed only four hits while going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, leaving seven on base. Kyle Lodise hit a double, scoring both runs for the Dash, but the rally fell short.

Winston-Salem Dash 10, Bowling Green Hot Rods 5 — Night Cap (Gameday Box)
Despite the Hot Rods scoring first, the Dash responded with nine unanswered runs, winning the nightcap, 10-5. Following the Barons’ lead, Winston-Salem recorded 10 hits and went 4-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Drew McDaniel opened for the Dash, allowing only one run and two hits while striking out one. Although he didn’t earn the win, it went to Liam Paddack, who allowed three runs. Frankeli Arias gave up a two-run homer after Paddack was pulled, but the Hot Rods couldn’t muster any more hits.

The Dash capitalized on Bowling Green’s mistakes, with only six of their 10 runs being earned. Four Dash batters had multi-hit games, with both Wolkow and Grant Magill hitting homers and combining for six RBIs.
