Midnapore, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal’s Minister Dilip Ghosh recently addressed several pressing issues, including illegal fundraising associated with Durga Puja. Speaking to the media in Midnapore, he stated, “No permission will be granted for corruption, and arbitrary actions will not be tolerated. Immediate action will be taken as soon as complaints are received. Fundraising under the guise of Durga Puja is illegal, and government measures against it will continue.”
Ghosh also responded to allegations made by Rahul Gandhi regarding the Special Investigation Report (SIR). He noted that the SIR is still in process and assured that clarity will emerge over time. He dismissed concerns about the electoral process, asserting that voter turnout increased and the results were favorable. “Those who lost have nothing to say,” he added.
Regarding the bail hearing of Congress candidate Milan Pradhan in the Nandigram by-election, Ghosh questioned the party’s choice of candidates, asking, “Why does Congress nominate such tainted individuals? Are there no good people in society? They should have fielded a suitable candidate.”
On the topic of Z-plus security for Abhishek Banerjee, Ghosh remarked, “What is the need for Z-plus security in Bengal for someone facing numerous corruption cases? Granting such security is an insult to the administration. While they will receive protection, it shouldn’t be proportional to their level of wrongdoing.”
Concerning the TMC symbol issue, he stated that the matter is currently pending in court, with the Election Commission reviewing it under judicial oversight. He expressed confidence that it will be resolved in due time.
Lastly, addressing Congress’s demand for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, Ghosh criticized the party’s tactics, stating, “Congress has a culture of tarnishing constitutional institutions. Politics and movements should not stoop this low.”
