Newtown, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : The West Bengal government is gearing up to address the rising issues of ‘tollabazi’, syndicate operations, and the culture of cut-money. Minister Dilip Ghosh highlighted the long-standing influence of anti-social elements in the state, which has reportedly caused distress among the public and negatively impacted the local business environment.
During a press briefing in Newtown, Ghosh remarked that terms like ‘tollabazi’, ‘syndicate’, and ‘cut-money’ have become synonymous with the state’s challenges. He pointed out that these activities have harmed industries and caused significant inconvenience to citizens.
To combat this criminal culture, the government plans to introduce necessary laws and is urging law enforcement to tighten its grip on public order. Ghosh criticized the previous administration for its complicity in deteriorating law and order.
He confirmed that measures are already in motion, and accountability for police officers is being established. Ghosh stated that no police personnel found guilty of misconduct would be spared. The government aims to create a system where no individual is above the law, regardless of political influence.
On the topic of education policy, Ghosh supported the central government’s initiatives. He noted that discussions on aligning Indian education with national contexts have been ongoing since independence, but effective implementation has been lacking. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the new education policy is being rolled out in phases across states after extensive discussions and public feedback. Ghosh believes that the benefits of this policy will become evident over time.
Responding to internal conflicts within the Trinamool Congress, Ghosh stated that his party does not wish to interfere. He suggested that the Trinamool Congress should present its issues to the Election Commission for resolution, which is currently reviewing the situation.
