West Bengal Chief Minister Commits to Revitalize Education System in Swami Vivekanandas Vision

Kolkata, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Kolkata’s Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Saturday a commitment to transform the state’s education system in line with Swami Vivekananda’s vision. This approach emphasizes character-building, mental strength, and self-reliance over mere examination-focused learning.

Speaking at the ‘Vidyasagar Education Honors 2026’ ceremony, organized by the state’s school and higher education departments, Adhikari pointed out that in recent years, the teachings of Swami Vivekananda have been gradually removed from the education system, undermining its core values.

He highlighted that true education instills self-belief and empowers individuals to stand on their own feet. Swami Vivekananda advocated for a balance between academic excellence and physical health. The Chief Minister noted that the education system in West Bengal has been disrupted as these teachings faded away. He emphasized the need to revive this spirit while integrating technology into modern education.

Adhikari also criticized the previous Trinamool Congress government, led by Mamata Banerjee, for dismantling the National Cadet Corps (NCC). He described the NCC as a vital organization that promotes physical fitness, discipline, and a sense of nationalism among students.

According to him, the previous administration’s decision to replace the NCC with the ‘Jai Hind Vahini’ initiative was a significant mistake. He further condemned the widespread corruption in the recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff in state-run schools under the former government.

Now, the Chief Minister has pledged to ensure a transparent recruitment process based solely on merit. He also warned students against being misled by anti-national elements attempting to brainwash them.

Adhikari noted that these forces remain silent when terrorists attack Indian tourists in places like Pulwama, yet they organize anti-war rallies following operations like ‘Operation Sindoor.’ He urged students to remain vigilant against such anti-national groups.
