Mumbai, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are rising in West Bengal following the announcement by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to establish 1,000 schools in the state. Sanjay Raut, a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Shiv Sena (UBT), has raised concerns about the initiative.
Speaking to reporters, Raut questioned, “If the RSS is going to open schools, where will they find teachers? Is Mohan Bhagwat visiting the United States and England for this reason? This is not the RSS’s responsibility; it falls on the central and state governments. However, both the state and central education systems are failing, prompting the RSS to introduce its own syllabus and education system in Bengal. The RSS needs to understand that this is the government’s job.”
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari recently announced plans to facilitate the opening of at least 1,000 schools operated by Vidya Bharati, the educational wing of the RSS, within a year.
In a separate statement, Raut made a significant remark regarding health concerns, stating, “If you ask me a question, I am unwell, but during my recent meeting with Rahul Gandhi, he advised me to undergo a toxic test.” He expressed apprehension about potential government interference, saying, “If someone poisons food, there is a risk of imprisonment. People like us, who voice opposition, could face similar threats. Therefore, if we end up in jail, it’s not just me; many like me could be at risk of tampering with our food or water. This is a serious concern that Rahul Gandhi warned us about.”
