Warning from Agencies: Demand for Independent West Bengal Part of ISI Conspiracy

New Delhi, May 9: Mohammad Noorul Huda, a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, has expressed support for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision not to resign. His remarks come shortly after intelligence agencies issued warnings about potential provocations in West Bengal.

Huda urged Banerjee not to accept the assembly election results but instead to declare West Bengal an independent nation. Agencies claim that Huda’s statement is strategically planned and aims at something significant.

In recent elections in Bangladesh, Jamaat secured a majority in border seats adjacent to West Bengal. Following this, agencies warned that the ISI-backed Jamaat would attempt to incite tensions in the state.

An officer from the Intelligence Bureau stated that the demand for declaring West Bengal an independent nation is an old tactic of the ISI. A few years ago, agencies thwarted a planned movement aimed at declaring Murshidabad independent from West Bengal.

The ISI is reportedly in contact with several radicals from Jamaat, directing them to create unrest in West Bengal. The officer noted that these individuals aim to initiate a movement similar to that in Jammu and Kashmir.

The plan involves launching a campaign claiming electoral fraud in West Bengal, suggesting that democracy no longer exists there. The officer added that the ISI hopes this will evolve into a mass movement, helping them maintain pressure on the government.

Another officer revealed that ISI-supported elements had devised various plans to create unrest before and during the elections. They attempted to run false campaigns suggesting that the BJP would engage in electoral fraud.

However, due to stringent security measures in the state, the electoral process proceeded smoothly. Another officer mentioned that the fake propaganda campaigns also failed, as a large number of people united to vote.

To disrupt peace and harmony in West Bengal, ISI-backed elements are also trying to derail India-Bangladesh relations. Relations have significantly improved post-elections, especially with Tarique Rahman becoming Prime Minister of Bangladesh. This development has not been favorable for the ISI, which seeks to sabotage these ties at any cost. An officer indicated that Huda’s statements are part of this larger conspiracy.

Officials stated they are closely monitoring the situation and will thwart any attempts to incite violence or instability in West Bengal. Huda also claimed that if Mamata Banerjee announces Bengal’s separation from India, Muslims in Bangladesh will support her.

Experts assert that Jamaat has consistently attempted to orchestrate such conspiracies at the behest of the ISI. They aim to destabilize West Bengal and then extend their influence towards the northeastern states.

Officials believe the ISI wants to maintain political tension in the state. They will emphasize that radicals should make inflammatory statements to keep an atmosphere of unrest at all times.

These radicals are attempting to discuss the election results. However, their plan is to initiate a mass movement demanding West Bengal’s independence from India. An officer noted that this strategy closely resembles the ISI’s efforts in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
