Beijing, May 8: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with a delegation of U.S. Senators led by Steve Daines on Thursday during their visit to Beijing.
Wang Yi noted that this delegation is the first bipartisan group of U.S. Congress members to visit China since President Trump took office, highlighting its significant symbolic importance. He expressed hope that the visit would provide new insights into China’s development, establish new bridges for communication, explore new areas for cooperation, and inject fresh momentum into the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
Wang emphasized that the relationship between China and the U.S. is closely tied to the welfare of both nations’ peoples and the stability of the global situation. He stated that China is ready to implement the key similarities agreed upon by the leaders of both countries to ensure that the China-U.S. relationship is genuinely stable and positive.
He also mentioned the need for both major countries to find the right way to interact with each other. The key lies in viewing one another from the correct perspective, akin to properly fastening the first button of a shirt.
