Ranchi, February 23: Polling is underway in 48 urban local bodies across Jharkhand, including Ranchi, starting from 7 AM and continuing until 5 PM. Over 4.34 million eligible voters are set to cast their votes. Meanwhile, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, Babulal Marandi, has urged voters to exercise their voting rights.

After casting his vote at a polling booth in Ranchi, voter Jitendra Chaudhary spoke to a news agency, encouraging everyone to participate in the voting process. He stated, “My message to society is to use your voting rights. Vote first, then have breakfast. Choose good candidates who will work for our community’s welfare, better schools, good roads, effective drainage, and complete safety. Therefore, everyone should vote and select the right candidates.”

In Ramgarh, Jharkhand, voters have shown tremendous enthusiasm as they head to the polls. A police officer reported that voting is proceeding peacefully at all polling stations. Adequate police personnel, including female officers, are deployed at various polling centers, ensuring compliance with all regulations.

On social media platform ‘X’, Babulal Marandi wrote, “Make sure to exercise your voting rights in today’s Jharkhand municipal elections. Your single vote determines the development and better future of your town. Vote responsibly in a clean, beautiful, and fear-free environment.”

The state unit of the BJP posted on their official ‘X’ account, “The festival of democracy has arrived. Vote for a bright future, good governance, and development in your town. Your vote is the power for change. Vote first, then refresh. Let’s work together to empower and enrich Jharkhand.”

In another post, the party raised concerns about the lack of basic amenities in Ranchi’s municipal wards. They stated, “Residents in wards 47 to 53 of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation still face a shortage of basic facilities. Many areas have incomplete drainage systems, piles of garbage, and persistent water issues. Inadequate street lighting in several neighborhoods causes problems for residents at night. Local citizens warn that if attention is not given promptly, conditions may worsen.”
