Jammu, March 22 : Jammu and Kashmir Congress leader and former MLC Vikramaditya Singh on Tuesday resigned from the primary membership of the party, saying it has “failed to realize and reflect the sentiments and aspirations of the people of (the state) and Ladakh”. The grandson of Maharaja Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir and the son of Congress veteran and former Governor Dr Karan Singh submitted his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. He said the party remains disconnected from ground realities and was unable to make the necessary organizational and other changes to keep up with the emerging scenario not only in Kashmir but also at the national level. Singh said that after joining the Congress in 2018, he had expressed his views openly in support of several issues or events that have not aligned with the stand of the Congress. Singh warned that unless the leadership and the party are dynamic and willing to adapt to changing public sentiments and aspirations, “it is only a matter of time before it fades away”. VBH MR
