Gaya, May 5: Bihar’s Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary warmly welcomed Vietnamese President To Lam upon his arrival in Gaya for a three-day visit to India.
CM Chaudhary expressed confidence that President To Lam’s visit would strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
On social media platform X, he wrote, “I extend a heartfelt welcome to President To Lam of Vietnam upon his arrival in the spiritual, cultural, and heritage city of Gaya. This historic visit will undoubtedly elevate our India-Vietnam relations to new heights.”
President To Lam, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will remain in India until May 7. This marks his first visit to India since being elected as President earlier this month.
During his trip, President To Lam will receive a formal welcome at the Presidential Palace on May 6. Following this, Prime Minister Modi will engage in extensive discussions with him on various aspects of bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest. President Droupadi Murmu is also scheduled to meet him, along with other leaders.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, President To Lam will also visit Bodh Gaya and Mumbai during his stay. The ministry further stated that these meetings between leaders will “provide new momentum to strengthen bilateral relations” and open new avenues for cooperation between India and Vietnam.
Earlier, on April 7, Prime Minister Modi congratulated To Lam on his election as President of Vietnam and expressed readiness to work together to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. He expressed confidence that under To Lam’s leadership, the centuries-old friendship between the two countries would continue to grow stronger.
