New Delhi, May 6: Vietnamese President Vo Lam praised India’s rapid progress on Wednesday, calling it “the global center for development and innovation.” He emphasized Hanoi’s commitment to prioritizing its bilateral relations with New Delhi.
During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vo Lam expressed his happiness and congratulated India on its swift advancement. “India has become a global hub for growth and innovation. Our discussions with Prime Minister Modi were highly successful, and we agreed to advance the outcomes of 50 years of diplomatic relations and a decade of comprehensive strategic partnership,” he stated.
He further noted that both nations shared their perspectives on regional and global issues, recognizing the importance of their relationship for both countries.
The two leaders agreed to make defense and security cooperation a “strategic pillar,” enhancing peace and stability in the region.
President Vo Lam highlighted plans to establish science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as new engines of cooperation. Additionally, they aim to boost economic ties by promoting trade, investment, and supply chain connectivity. He asserted that India would receive full support on all global platforms.
Vo Lam stated that both countries would collaborate on regional and international platforms, committing to ensuring peace, security, and freedom of navigation based on international law, particularly UNCLOS 1982.
He expressed support for India’s expanding global role, emphasizing that both nations would strengthen cooperation to tackle shared challenges.
Vo Lam thanked India and Prime Minister Modi for the grand welcome extended to him and the Vietnamese delegation.
