Vidya Malavade Shares Personal Experience with Cyber Fraud in New Series

Actress Vidya Malavade discusses her role in Scam 2024 and a personal cyber fraud incident involving her house help.

Mumbai, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Vidya Malavade, known for her role in the micro-drama “Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story,” recently opened up about her character and the relevance of the series. In a conversation, she explained why this project resonates with her personally.

Malavade stated, “I found the story to be very relevant, and my character Priya is well-written. We hear about scams happening to people almost every day, and something similar happened in my own home, making this project even closer to my heart.”

She recounted an incident where her house help, who has worked with her for 15 years, fell victim to a scam. “About a year and a half to two years ago, she went to an ATM and returned home saying she couldn’t withdraw cash, even though her account had funds. She brought her passbook with her,” Malavade shared.

Initially, they thought it might be a mistake or an issue with her ATM card. However, upon checking her passbook, they discovered that all the money had been withdrawn. “The scammers had taken all her money in two transactions. She didn’t even realize what had happened because those transactions occurred 10 to 15 days earlier. She might not have noticed the bank messages. By the time we found out, her account was completely empty. It was a shocking experience,” she recalled.

In addition to Malavade, the series features Pratik Sehajpal as Vicky Mandal and Vineet Raina as suspended officer Raj Thakur. Produced by Small Town Boyz and directed by Alok Sharma, the series delves into the increasing dangers and fears surrounding digital fraud.

The narrative centers on Malavade’s character, Priya Sharma, a working woman who becomes a victim of cyber fraud.
