
Panaji, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Renowned actor Nana Patekar has passed away at the age of 75. The news was confirmed by Dr. Shekhar Salkar, head of oncology at Manipal Hospital in Goa, where Patekar was taken. According to Dr. Salkar, the actor was already deceased upon arrival at the hospital.
Dr. Salkar reported that Patekar was brought in between 4:20 and 4:35 AM on Thursday. “Our team arrived at his residence at approximately 4:18 AM and initiated CPR, as he was unresponsive. He was transported to the hospital while CPR was ongoing, but he had already passed away,” he explained.
Due to the circumstances surrounding his death, the case has become medico-legal, prompting police involvement. The authorities have transferred the body to a government medical college for a post-mortem examination. Following this, the remains will be returned to the family.
Reflecting on Patekar’s legacy, Dr. Salkar noted the actor’s admiration for former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. “Nana Patekar was a great fan of Parrikar and often spoke about him with deep emotion. His last public speech was at the Samrat ceremony, where he paid tribute to Parrikar,” he added.
Patekar considered Parrikar a close friend and often expressed pride in their friendship. Despite their age difference, he held immense respect for Parrikar’s character and simple lifestyle.
In addition to his work in Hindi cinema, Patekar made significant contributions to Marathi film. His passing has elicited heartfelt condolences from the Marathi film community, which recognizes his profound impact on the industry.
