Tributes Pour In for Legendary Actor Nana Patekar Following His Passing

Goa, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Bollywood icon Nana Patekar passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday morning at his residence in Goa. His death has prompted an outpouring of grief from several central ministers, including Nitin Gadkari, who expressed his condolences. Gadkari remarked that Patekar’s unique style of dialogue delivery immortalized many characters and established his distinct identity in Indian cinema. He described the actor’s passing as a significant loss for the film industry.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, shared his shock and sorrow over the news. He stated, “The news of the passing of legendary Indian actor Nana Patekar is deeply shocking and sad. I pay my heartfelt tribute to him. Nana and I shared a close and friendly relationship. Through his powerful performances, he ruled the hearts of audiences in Marathi and Hindi cinema for over five decades.”

Gadkari noted that Patekar’s unique way of delivering dialogues made many characters unforgettable. He emphasized that the actor’s contributions extended beyond cinema, highlighting his remarkable work through the ‘Naam Foundation’ in rural Maharashtra, particularly in water conservation and assistance to families of farmers who committed suicide. Gadkari described Patekar as not only an exceptional artist but also a deeply sensitive individual attuned to societal needs. He prayed for peace for the departed soul.

Other ministers also shared their condolences. H.D. Kumaraswamy, the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, expressed deep sadness over Patekar’s death. He stated, “The passing of veteran actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar at the age of 75 is profoundly sad. His powerful acting, distinctive voice, and remarkable contributions to cinema will always be remembered. This is an irreplaceable loss for Indian cinema and the arts. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and countless fans. May his soul rest in peace.”

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed his sorrow, stating, “Hearing about the passing of renowned actor Nana Patekar has left my heart heavy. His voice, manner of speaking, and facial expressions resonated deeply with audiences. He could evoke serious emotions in films like ‘Krantiveer’ and ‘Parinda’ while also making us laugh in roles like Uday Shetty in ‘Welcome.’ Such depth and humor in one artist is rare. His films and characters will remain in our memories for a long time. May God grant peace to his departed soul.”

Union Minister of Water Power C.R. Patil also mourned Patekar’s passing, stating that his powerful performances enriched both Hindi and regional cinema. Patil highlighted Patekar’s contributions beyond film, particularly in water conservation and rural water security, which inspired many across the country to engage in these efforts.

Patil remarked that Patekar’s work conveyed the message that positive change in society comes not just through words but through continuous effort and public participation. He noted that Patekar’s departure is a significant loss not only to the arts but also to social causes. His artistry, sensitive personality, and dedication to society will continue to inspire others.

Union Minister of Energy Manohar Lal shared his thoughts, saying, “The passing of the eminent actor, theatre veteran, and compassionate social worker Padma Shri Nana Patekar is an irreplaceable loss for the Indian arts community. His powerful and vibrant performances left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. His commitment to social causes will always be inspiring. I pray to Lord Rama to grant peace to his soul and strength to his grieving family and countless fans.”

Sukanta Majumdar, the Union Minister of State, also expressed his sorrow, stating in a post that this is a significant and tragic loss for Indian cinema. Patekar was an actor of extraordinary depth, honesty, and versatility. His performances in films like ‘Krantiveer,’ ‘Parinda,’ and ‘Natsamrat’ will never be forgotten.
