VCK to Contest Only from Uzhavar Kadai Seat in Puducherry: Thol Thirumavalavan

Puducherry, April 5: Thol Thirumavalavan, the president of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), announced on Sunday that the party will contest only from the Uzhavar Kadai Assembly seat in Puducherry after discussions with alliance partners regarding seat sharing.

He stated that this decision follows talks with senior leaders of the Indian National Congress aimed at streamlining the alliance’s electoral strategy.

According to the agreement, coalition partners like Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will work together to ensure the victory of the VCK candidate in Uzhavar Kadai through coordinated campaigning and voter mobilization.

Addressing the media, Thirumavalavan clarified that while party members have filed nominations in constituencies such as Osudu, Nettapakkam, and Yanam, VCK will not actively campaign in those areas. Instead, in line with the mutual understanding of the alliance, party workers will fully support the Congress candidates contesting there.

He further mentioned that a similar reciprocal arrangement will be followed in constituencies allocated to the DMK, where Congress candidates who have filed nominations will support DMK candidates to unite votes and avoid any divisions within the alliance.

Thirumavalavan also noted that he has already initiated a campaign in support of VCK candidate Selva Pushpalatha in Uzhavar Kadai. His campaign will cover key constituencies in both Puducherry and Tamil Nadu where alliance candidates are contesting.

As per the schedule, Thirumavalavan will campaign in Tindivanam and later visit Kattumannar Koil and Kurinjipadi, where he will participate in the nomination events of alliance candidates.

The VCK leader expressed confidence that the secular alliance is on track for a decisive victory and will form the government in Puducherry. He emphasized that coordinated efforts among alliance partners and welfare governance are key factors in garnering public support.
