Hyderabad, April 14: Varun Aaron, the fast bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), praised debutants Prabhull Hinge and Sakib Hussain following their match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday.
Aaron, who played a crucial role in selecting Prabhull and Sakib for the team, emphasized that his main message to them was to enjoy their debut and not worry about the outcome. “This approach worked in our favor,” he stated.
In a post-match interaction with journalists, Aaron shared, “My plan for them was simply to enjoy the game. You only debut once in any format of cricket. Considering where they come from, what they achieved today is significant. It’s essential to savor the moment. Before the match, I requested them to enjoy it; if I didn’t see that, I would be very upset. Both of them, along with all of us, truly enjoyed their debut.”
Aaron also commended Prabhull’s determination in taking the wicket of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Revealing details from their pre-match discussions, the former Indian fast bowler said, “The conversation was about going round the wicket, but I advised him to stay over the wicket. I was confident he would get the wicket.”
He added, “It’s all about teamwork. Ultimately, all credit goes to Prabhull. His intent to dismiss Vaibhav was clear. He had previously dismissed Vaibhav and was determined to do it again. I’m genuinely happy for him.”
Prabhull had a dream debut, taking three wickets in his very first over, becoming the first bowler in IPL history to achieve this feat. He ended with impressive figures of 4 wickets for 34 runs in his four overs, leading to RR being bowled out for 159 while chasing a target of 217.
