
Lucknow, March 24: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed remarkable changes in healthcare services over the past nine years. The state government has not only strengthened infrastructure but also reached new heights in digital health, emergency services, and maternal-child care. As a result, Uttar Pradesh now ranks first in several health metrics nationwide.
The Yogi administration has made significant strides in digital health, creating over 57.6 million electronic health records. The state operates 35 microsites under the Microsite Project, registering more than 440,000 records, which has secured its top position in the country. Additionally, the Unified Disease Surveillance Portal has enhanced disease monitoring and prevention. A ‘Care Model’ has been implemented to oversee the availability and functionality of medical equipment in hospitals. Noteworthy progress has also been made in maternal and child health.
Pregnant women now have access to free ultrasounds through e-vouchers. The Janani Suraksha Yojana has benefited 1,351,044 beneficiaries, while the Child Health Program has treated 879,642 children. The Dastak campaign has intensified efforts against diseases like AES-JE. The expansion of health services is evident, with 22,681 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers currently operational. More than 131.8 million people have registered under the Ayushman Bharat Health Account. With 81,615 registrations in the Health Professional Registry, Uttar Pradesh leads the nation.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, cards have been issued to 13.1 million families, covering 55.9 million beneficiaries. Over 90 million people have been provided free medical coverage of up to 500,000 rupees. The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has benefited 73.4 million individuals. Additionally, the Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya campaign has provided health security to 5.064 million families, covering 15 million people. The state has also made significant advancements in health infrastructure, operating 873 Jan Aushadhi centers across all districts. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country with 63,407 health facility registrations, having spent 133.53 billion rupees on free treatment for 8.155 million patients.
The network of 6,213 hospitals (2,950 government and 3,263 private) linked to the Ayushman scheme is the largest in the country. Emergency services have benefited over 40 million people through the 108 ambulance service. The number of Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances has increased to 375, and the daily coverage distance has been extended from 60 km to 120 km. Mobile medical units have treated more than 18 million patients.
The Yogi government has introduced free dialysis services in hospitals across 75 districts, benefiting over 4.146 million patients. CT scan services have been initiated in districts, and telemedicine and teleconsultation have made specialist doctors accessible in remote areas. To further strengthen healthcare services, the Uttar Pradesh Medical Supply Corporation has been established, ensuring transparency in drug quality and supply. Additionally, 798 health units have received the National Quality Assurance Certificate.
The state has also made strides in food safety and research. Food testing is conducted through 36 mobile laboratories. Microbiology labs have been set up in Lucknow, Meerut, and Varanasi to enhance food quality monitoring. The establishment of the ‘Pramod Farm’ organization promotes pharmaceutical research. Furthermore, a cashless medical scheme has been implemented for state employees and pensioners, providing them with cashless treatment options. Millions of families connected to various departments have also been included in health insurance schemes.
