
Ghaziabad, June 13: In a significant development, police in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, have apprehended a notorious criminal with a bounty of ₹50,000 after a gunfight. The suspect sustained gunshot wounds to both legs and has been hospitalized for treatment. Law enforcement officials revealed that the accused is linked to over six cases across the NCR region.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Siddharth Gautam reported that on May 30, a kidnapping incident involving Omkar Singh was reported from the Gunoli village in the Loni police station area. Following this, efforts were initiated to capture those involved in the crime.
According to the ACP, late Saturday night, police received information about the suspects. Acting swiftly, a police team conducted a check near the canal on the Banthla-Chirodi road. A white Swift car was spotted approaching Chirodi from Banthla, and when officers signaled for it to stop, the driver refused. The police pursued the vehicle, which subsequently lost control and crashed into a tree. Seizing the opportunity, the suspect attempted to flee and fired at the police team. In response, the police returned fire, injuring the suspect in both legs.
The injured suspect was taken into custody and later transported to a hospital for treatment. ACP Siddharth Gautam identified the arrested individual as Gaurav Nagar. The suspect confessed to his crime, admitting that he, along with accomplices, had kidnapped Omkar. He further revealed that they murdered Omkar and disposed of his body on the Rohta Meerut Road in Gangnagar.
ACP Gautam confirmed that during the encounter, a pistol and four cartridges were recovered from the suspect. Legal proceedings are currently underway in this case.
