Uttar Pradesh Implements Fuel Conservation and Spending Cuts

Lucknow, May 14: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation and reduced government spending, both central and state governments have intensified their efforts. In Uttar Pradesh, there is a strong emphasis on the limited use of resources in administrative and governmental activities.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already decided to reduce the fleet of government vehicles, including those of ministers and senior officials, by up to 50%. This initiative is now impacting the activities of the Legislative Council.

The Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, Kunwar Manvendra Singh, has issued directives to postpone all previously scheduled tours of the council’s parliamentary committees until further notice. This decision aims to save government resources and minimize unnecessary travel.

Dr. Rajesh Singh, the Principal Secretary of the Legislative Council, confirmed that all tour-related programs for various parliamentary committees have been canceled for now. He stated that these programs will remain suspended until further orders, considering the circumstances and administrative needs. He also assured that this would not affect the proceedings and meetings of the committees.

District-level officials will now participate in parliamentary committee meetings via video conferencing. This approach will ensure the continuity of administrative functions while also reducing unnecessary travel and fuel consumption.

The government’s initiative is seen as a significant step towards administrative simplicity, better resource utilization, and environmental protection. It is expected that similar measures may be adopted by other departments and government institutions in the coming days to effectively control government spending while achieving energy conservation goals.
