Uttar Pradesh Government Launches Comprehensive Action Plan for Girls Education

Lucknow, June 17: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is taking significant steps to empower girls’ education and modernize Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs).

Recently, a departmental review meeting outlined an 18-point action plan focusing on student safety, quality education, digital learning, hostel operations, sports activities, scholarship disbursement, and essential facilities.

The government’s goal is to provide every girl with a safe, well-equipped, and quality educational environment. The initiative extends beyond traditional schooling, integrating safety, health, digital literacy, sports, hostel facilities, and life skills for holistic development.

The directives emphasize the commitment of the Yogi government to transform KGBVs into strong centers for girls’ empowerment. This initiative is expected to connect thousands of girls in the state with quality education, a secure environment, and new opportunities for a self-reliant future.

In light of the extreme heat, instructions have been issued to ensure the availability of coolers, fans, exhaust fans, and generators in all schools. Additionally, processes for food supply must be completed within a week to provide necessary materials to schools. Ensuring 100% attendance for girls and staff and providing summer homework for students are also priorities.

The progress report for June includes directives to complete approved activities such as furniture purchases, roti-making machines, washing machines, solar geysers, folk music instruments, and open gyms in a timely manner. Districts with pending staff renewals have been instructed to complete them within a week.

An official stated that to promote digital platform-based learning in schools, the availability of computers, broadband, and unlimited data is being ensured. The scholarship scheme will review the details of past and current batches of students, payment status, and bank account seeding to ensure eligible students receive benefits without any hindrance.

Verification and prompt issuance of utilization certificates for ongoing hostel construction, additional dormitories, computer labs, and toilet blocks have been mandated. Projects that are over 90% complete are to be transferred and operationalized swiftly.

Moreover, KGBVs have been directed to expedite activities in districts with slow progress in sports programs and connect identified girls to training centers by July 3.
