Uttar Pradesh Government Enhances Farmer Support from Seed to Market, Says CM Yogi Adityanath

CM Yogi Adityanath highlights initiatives for farmers under PM Modis guidance, enhancing agricultural support in Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the commitment of the state’s “double-engine” government to support farmers from seed to market. Speaking on October 10, he noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government prioritizes the rights and well-being of farmers, recognizing them as the backbone of the state’s economy.

In a recent social media post, CM Yogi praised the initiatives launched since 2017 aimed at improving the agricultural sector. He pointed out that prior to this period, farmers were often burdened by debt and forced to rely on middlemen. Today, he stated, these farmers are benefiting from direct payments, advanced seeds, and irrigation facilities.

Yogi highlighted the completion of long-standing irrigation projects, noting that Uttar Pradesh now contributes 21% to the nation’s total food grain production. The agricultural growth rate has surged from 8% to 18%, placing the state at the forefront of production in sectors such as dairy, sugarcane, and wheat.

He also mentioned that from 2017 to March 2026, over 80 lakh farmers had their rice purchases exceed 519 lakh metric tons, with direct payments surpassing ₹1,03,833 crores. This commitment continues, as the support price for rice has been raised by ₹71 per quintal this season, ensuring fair compensation for farmers’ hard work.
