Lucknow, 2 January. Uttar Pradesh is witnessing rapid growth in the telecommunications sector. The expansion of mobile, broadband, and fixed wireless access services is strengthening not only in urban areas but also in rural regions of the state. This growth is primarily driven by government policy support and private investment, which is accelerating the reach of industrial and commercial activities across the state.
As a result, Uttar Pradesh has secured a prominent position among India’s leading telecom markets. The state’s digital sector is gaining new momentum under the development model of the Yogi government.
According to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the total number of wireless mobile subscribers across the country reached 1173.88 million in November 2025, up from 1171.87 million in October 2025. Both the Uttar Pradesh East and Uttar Pradesh West licensed service areas have made significant contributions. In terms of consumer activity, Uttar Pradesh remains a frontrunner in the country. By November 2025, 1.97 million porting requests were recorded in Uttar Pradesh East and 1.35 million in Uttar Pradesh West, indicating strong demand for mobile services in the state.
Uttar Pradesh’s position in fixed wireless access, especially 5G-based services, is continuously strengthening. By the end of November 2025, the total number of 5G FWA subscribers nationwide was 10.41 million. This included 0.79 million subscribers in Uttar Pradesh East and 0.62 million in Uttar Pradesh West. The addition of thousands of new users in just one month in these regions signals that government digital connectivity policies are effectively reaching citizens. High-speed internet availability in remote villages is opening new opportunities in education, healthcare, and employment.
In the wireline services sector, Uttar Pradesh has also shown steady growth. By November 2025, the total number of wireline subscribers in India stood at 47.05 million. In Uttar Pradesh, government offices, educational institutions, industrial units, and urban residential areas continue to demand wireline connections. The widespread implementation of e-governance services by the Yogi government has increased the need for reliable and secure connectivity, thereby strengthening the wireline network. The state’s position in active mobile subscribers also remains strong.
Compared to October 2025, the total active mobile subscribers across the country reached 1090.91 million by November 2025. Mobile networks are playing a growing role in online government services, digital payments, e-education, and telemedicine. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has made digital infrastructure a key driver of economic growth. Expansion of optical fibre networks, increase in mobile towers, and promotion of 5G technology are creating new investment and employment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
