Uttar Pradesh Emerges as a Model for Employment and Self-Reliance in Nine Years

Lucknow, May 7: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government of Uttar Pradesh has made revolutionary changes in employment and self-employment over the past nine years.

The Yogi government has approached employment as a mission. With the goal of transforming the state’s economy into a trillion-dollar entity, efforts are underway to empower youth and women economically. The government is creating job opportunities in both the public sector and private sectors for the youth.

Uttar Pradesh has become the state that provides the most employment in the country. Over the past nine years, the Yogi government has created more than 900,000 government jobs. In the UP Police alone, 219,000 recruitments have been completed during this period. Additionally, in 2026, over 80,000 positions are set to be filled. The education department has seen more than 165,000 appointments. Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board has conducted over 53,000 recruitments transparently from 2017 to 2025, while the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has completed more than 47,000 recruitments.

Today, the number of factories in Uttar Pradesh has exceeded 31,000, a significant increase from just 14,000 registered before 2017. New job opportunities for the youth have emerged. Young individuals opting for self-employment have greatly benefited from the MSME sector, which has provided direct and indirect employment to over 30 million people in the state.

Various schemes by the Yogi government have also realized the dream of self-reliance for youth and women. In the Khadi and Village Industries sector, 463,000 jobs have been created. Over the past nine years, investment proposals worth ₹50 lakh crore have the potential to provide employment and job opportunities for more than 10 million youth. Through four groundbreaking ceremonies, investment proposals worth ₹15 lakh crore have been implemented, generating over 6 million job opportunities.

Under the Chief Minister’s Youth Employment Scheme, more than 38,000 beneficiaries have received over ₹1,09,710 lakh in margin money. Thus, the Yogi government has provided not only employment but also self-employment opportunities for the residents of the state.

The ‘Chief Minister’s Young Entrepreneur Development Campaign’ has been launched to help educated and trained youth establish micro-enterprises. Since 2024-25, 147,000 youth have benefited from this scheme, creating employment for 451,000 people. The Yogi government has announced a policy to employ athletes who excel in national and international competitions in gazetted positions. To date, over 500 athletes have been employed in various government departments.

The BC Sakhi scheme has worked to empower rural women. Under this initiative, rural women have conducted transactions worth ₹42,711 crore as banking representatives and earned dividends of ₹116 crore. Women have also been trained to operate drones to promote technology in agriculture.

Additionally, through self-help groups, the annual income of women is targeted to exceed ₹1 lakh through the ‘Lakshmi Didi’ initiative. As a result, 1.855 million women have reached the millionaire category. More than 10 million women are engaged in employment through self-help groups. Agricultural livelihood enhancement activities have connected 6.434 million women farmer families.

These statistics indicate that today, the youth of Uttar Pradesh are not just looking for jobs in other states but are finding employment and business opportunities within their own state. The Yogi government’s initiatives have instilled confidence in youth and women. This is why Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a successful model in the fields of employment, investment, entrepreneurship, and women’s empowerment in the country.
