US Delegation Begins India Visit for Bilateral Trade Talks

New Delhi, 10 December (Daily Kiran) – A new round of trade negotiations between India and the United States will commence from Wednesday, focusing on a proposed bilateral trade agreement. The US delegation is set to arrive in New Delhi for a two-day visit to discuss tariff-related issues.

Official sources confirmed that the newly appointed US Deputy Trade Representative Ambassador Rick Switzer will lead the delegation starting today. During this visit, the delegation will hold meetings with senior officials of the Indian government.

The lead US negotiator for the proposed agreement is Brendan Lynch, Assistant US Trade Representative for South and Central Asia. He will engage in discussions with India’s chief negotiator, Darpan Jain, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce.

The delegation led by Deputy US Trade Representative Rick Switzer will conduct talks on all trade-related matters on December 10 and 11 in New Delhi. The goal of the agreement is to double bilateral trade from the current 191 billion US dollars to 500 billion US dollars by 2030.

It is noteworthy that the United States has remained India’s largest trading partner for the fourth consecutive year in the financial year 2024-25.
