Lucknow, March 5: Nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers have reason to celebrate. Comprehensive information about eco-tourism sites in Uttar Pradesh, along with booking facilities and essential guidance, is now just a click away. The “UP Eco Tourism” mobile app, developed by the Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board (UPETDB), consolidates the state’s wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, jungle trails, waterfalls, and rivers into a single digital platform, offering tourists a unique experience.
Uttar Pradesh’s Tourism and Culture Minister, Jaiveer Singh, stated that the “UP Eco Tourism” app is a revolutionary step in the tourism sector, developed in line with the demands of the digital age. This initiative aims to connect tourists with nature while promoting local community involvement and environmental conservation. It also positions the state at the forefront of eco-friendly, sustainable, and responsible tourism. However, the app is currently in its initial phase, with ongoing updates.
What makes the app special? Through this mobile application, users can access detailed information about Uttar Pradesh’s eco-tourism sites, including photos, videos, route details, nearby attractions, access information, and the best times to visit. Users can easily find national parks, wetlands, nature trails, forest circuits, rural tourism, and river-based activities. A smart search and filter feature allows users to find destinations based on district, type of activities, budget, distance, popularity, and ratings.
The app includes GPS-supported smart maps and navigation features, providing swipe-based navigation. Users can save their favorite locations or explore the next options. With GPS-supported smart maps, users can view eco-tourism sites, accommodation options, activities, and nearby attractions. Turn-by-turn directions, information about nearby places, and offline maps are particularly useful in areas with limited network connectivity.
AI itinerary planning is another standout feature of the “UP Eco Tourism” app. By utilizing innovative technology, the app offers users personalized travel plans based on available days, times, interests, and locations. There are plans to connect this feature with maps and booking systems.
Additionally, the community and review section allows travelers to share their experiences, upload photos and stories, and read reviews from other travelers. They can also rate their experiences to help others make informed decisions. For safety, the app includes an SOS emergency feature, which offers a one-tap alert, auto location sharing, an emergency contact directory, and offline SMS support. Users will receive real-time notifications about weather alerts, new eco-tourism destinations, booking reminders, and government advisories.
Currently, the app is available in English and will soon be accessible in Hindi. Interested users can download the UP Eco Tourism app from the Google Play Store, with plans for an iOS launch in the near future.
Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasized that the goal of the “UP Eco Tourism” app is to provide tourists with comprehensive information about all eco-tourism sites in the state on a single platform. He noted that often, after visiting a favorite site, tourists find themselves with extra time but lack information about nearby natural attractions. In such cases, this app can suggest nearby eco-tourism sites with just one click, enhancing their travel experience. He also mentioned that many additional features will be introduced in the “UP Eco Tourism” app in the future.
