Lucknow, May 18: Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra has accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of disregarding the Prime Minister’s appeal for energy conservation. Mehrotra raised concerns about the government’s actions against lawyers’ chambers in the capital, Lucknow.
In an interview, Mehrotra stated that the Chief Minister did not heed the Prime Minister’s call. He noted that during a visit to Lok Bhawan, Adityanath was accompanied by seven vehicles. “There is a stark contrast between what BJP leaders say and what they do,” he remarked.
He also questioned Prime Minister Modi’s foreign trips, highlighting the contradiction between the advice to avoid international travel and the Prime Minister’s own actions. “BJP leaders do not follow their own guidelines,” he added.
Regarding the demolition of lawyers’ chambers, Mehrotra expressed his dismay over the destruction of structures built over 40 years ago. He mentioned that police had used batons against lawyers, resulting in injuries. “The BJP government is inflicting oppression and injustice on the people,” he asserted.
After the recent cabinet expansion in UP, Mehrotra commented on the allocation of departments, stating that newly appointed ministers are wandering without clear responsibilities. He claimed that decisions about ministerial departments are made by the central government, leaving many ministers without any assigned portfolios.
He further pointed out the rising mortality rate and declining birth rate in the country, attributing deaths to health issues. “The BJP government has failed to provide adequate healthcare, leading to numerous fatalities,” he said. He suggested that similar financial incentives for families with multiple children, as announced by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, should be implemented in Uttar Pradesh as well.
On the NEET exam cancellations, he lamented the tragic outcomes for students in various cities. “The BJP government has jeopardized students’ futures, yet the Education Minister remains in position,” he concluded.
