Ukraines Foreign Minister Accuses Russia of Vetoing Global Peace Efforts

Ukraines Foreign Minister claims Russia is obstructing peace efforts, warning of a global threat from the ongoing conflict.

United Nations, September 25 (Daily Kiran) : Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, asserted that 14 out of 15 members of the United Nations Security Council support an end to the ongoing war. The only nation opposing this stance is Russia. He emphasized that Russia is using its veto power not just to block ceasefires but to disrupt global peace.

Kuleba warned that the conflict poses a significant threat beyond Ukraine and Europe, affecting the entire world. He stated that Ukraine is fully prepared for a complete and unconditional ceasefire.

In a post on the social media platform X, Kuleba highlighted, “The Security Council has 15 members, and 14 of them support an immediate ceasefire in some form, including four permanent members. Only one country is obstructing the path to peace, and that is the aggressor itself.”

He added that Russia is vetoing not only ceasefires but also the possibility of peace. Kuleba criticized President Vladimir Putin for choosing to escalate tensions and violence instead of seeking an end to the war.

He reiterated Ukraine’s readiness to halt the conflict, stating that they are also open to a ceasefire related to energy and food issues. “We are ready to stop right here, right now,” he declared.

Kuleba emphasized that Ukraine did not initiate this war; rather, it is defending its homeland against an invasion. He urged for the conflict to end before Putin could expand his aggression further, noting that the threat has already reached their doorstep.

“This is not just Ukraine’s war. It is not merely Europe’s war. It is a danger to the entire world,” Kuleba stated. He underscored that preventing the worst outcomes relies on the collective efforts of everyone present in the room and those beyond it.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remarked that their attacks target the capabilities that empower Russia. He mentioned that Putin recently promised U.S. representatives that he only needed a few more months to achieve his goals—an assurance he has made multiple times in the past. Zelensky expressed skepticism, stating that this time, Putin would fail again.
