New Delhi, March 3: U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau has arrived in India for a four-day visit. He will represent the United States at the Raisina Dialogue 2026, India’s largest geopolitical forum. During this event, he aims to promote President Donald Trump’s “America First” policy priorities.
According to the U.S. State Department, “Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau will be in New Delhi from March 3 to 6. He will lead the U.S. delegation at the Raisina Dialogue 2026 and advance President Trump’s America First policy priorities. The Deputy Secretary will also meet with senior Indian officials to discuss bilateral cooperation on critical minerals and counter-narcotics, deepen commercial and economic ties to enhance market access for U.S. businesses, and promote our shared vision for a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.”
Additionally, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, S. Paul Kapur, is in New Delhi from March 1 to 3. According to the U.S. Embassy, Kapur is meeting with Indian officials to discuss “regional security and shared priorities in the Indo-Pacific.”
The embassy noted that this visit is part of “advancing President Trump’s vision for a strong and mutually beneficial U.S.-India partnership.”
The Raisina Dialogue has become India’s flagship strategic forum, attracting global leaders, ministers, and security experts each year. Over the past decade, India and the U.S. have enhanced their defense and strategic cooperation, signing significant agreements and increasing collaboration in the Indo-Pacific. This partnership includes critical minerals, new technologies, and energy security.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India, in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), will host the Raisina Dialogue 2026 from March 5 to 7. Launched in 2016, it is akin to Singapore’s Shangri-La Dialogue and the Munich Security Conference.
The conference will feature heads of state, foreign ministers, cabinet ministers, business leaders, defense experts, and academics from various countries. The main objective is to discuss evolving geopolitical alliances, economic security, emerging AI technologies, climate change, and green energy.
