Two labourers die, 5 injured as truck overturns in Palghar

Palghar, Apr 6 : Two labourers died and five others were injured, three of them seriously, when a brick-laden truck they were travelling in overturned on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway on Wednesday. An offence of culpable homicide and other sections of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act has been registered against the truck driver who is yet to be arrested, police said. When the truck was proceeding from Manor to Palghar this morning, its break apparently failed on the slope of the Waghoba Khind and overturned, trapping the labourers under it. The locals rushed to the spot and rescued the labourers but two of them lost their lives. The injured labourers were admitted to the Palghar Rural hospital, from where three of them with serious injuries were shifted to Mumbai. The deceased were identified as Umesh Pawar (25) and Damoo Pawar (40). Their bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem. The local police are probing into the incident further, it was stated. XR SS 1712
