Washington, April 25: President Donald Trump will send a special envoy to Pakistan to facilitate discussions with Iran. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt announced that there have been some recent positive signals from Iran.
Levitt stated that the President has decided to dispatch Special Envoy Steve and Jared Kushner back to Islamabad. She mentioned that Iran is open to dialogue and prefers face-to-face discussions.
Furthermore, she explained that Steve and Jared will visit Pakistan to listen to Iran’s perspectives. President Trump has always believed in giving “diplomacy a chance.”
According to Levitt, there have been some advancements from Iran in recent days, although she did not clarify whether Tehran has presented a unified proposal before negotiations.
Senior leadership in Washington, including the President, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, will remain in the U.S. awaiting further information. The Vice President has been placed on “standby” and may also be sent to Pakistan if necessary.
These statements come at a time when diplomatic activities in the Middle East are intensifying. Levitt also confirmed the extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, calling it “another significant success for the world and the U.S.”
She expressed gratitude to both Israel and Lebanon for their decision to continue discussions together, and she hopes that leaders from both nations may be invited to Washington in the future.
