Trump Honors Grieving Mothers at White House Mothers Day Event

Washington, May 9: U.S. President Donald Trump honored grieving mothers at a Mother’s Day event held at the White House. During the ceremony, he highlighted his administration’s record on border security, drug control, and family-centered policies.

Speaking in the Rose Garden, Trump addressed Angel Moms and Gold Star Moms, acknowledging their unique pain and resilience. He remarked, “For millions of American families, Sunday will be filled with love, gratitude, and joy. By the way, my mother was very good.”

The President noted that many mothers present had stood by their children through both ordinary and challenging times. He linked their suffering to his immigration policy, stating that some mothers had lost their beloved children due to open border policies. He added, “These incredibly brave and courageous women have turned terrible tragedies into strong resolve.”

Trump stated, “We have transformed the worst and most dangerous border situation in our country’s history into the strongest border system in American history. Illegal entries have nearly ceased in the past 11 months.”

He also connected border security to drug prevention, claiming, “The trafficking of deadly fentanyl across our borders has decreased by 59%, and drug smuggling via maritime routes has dropped by 97%. Efforts to prevent ground route trafficking will also be strengthened.”

During the event, Trump recognized several mothers, including Mary Ann Mendoza, Tammy Nobles, and Jacqueline Medina, saying, “What you are going through is incredibly tragic.”

He paid tribute to Gold Star families by recalling the story of Marine Captain Jesse Melton, stating, “Jesse gave his life for our country. It is because of great sons like yours that America is a strong and free nation today.”

Trump criticized the previous administration for the attack at Abbey Gate in Afghanistan, calling it a significant failure.

He emphasized legal and policy initiatives aimed at families, noting that his administration implemented the largest tax cuts in American history and increased the child tax credit to $2,200. He also mentioned that the government is providing $1,000 for every American newborn as an investment.

Regarding healthcare, Trump stated, “We have reduced drug prices through the Favored Nations policy, cutting them by 50, 60, and even 70%.” He claimed that the U.S. now has the lowest drug prices in the world.

He discussed efforts to make starting a family easier by lowering IVF costs and reducing regulatory barriers. Concluding his remarks, Trump said, “America’s mothers are shaping the future of our country. I just want to wish you all a very happy Mother’s Day.”

Mother’s Day is celebrated in the U.S. on the second Sunday of May. This occasion is widely observed with families coming together to honor mothers. The White House traditionally uses this opportunity to recognize mothers who have lost children in military service or violent incidents.
