Washington, May 12: President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s new nuclear proposal on Monday, labeling it as “garbage.” Speaking during an event at the White House focused on maternal health and reproductive services, he stated that the ceasefire is “on life support.”
In a press briefing from the Oval Office, Trump described Tehran’s latest response in nuclear negotiations as “completely unacceptable.” He called it a foolish proposal.
Trump noted that Iran had previously agreed to allow the removal of “nuclear dust” from enrichment facilities damaged by recent U.S. military strikes, but later changed its stance.
According to Trump, Iranian officials backed away from this agreement because they did not want to put it in writing.
He reiterated that the U.S. position remains unchanged. “My plan is very straightforward: Iran should not have nuclear weapons; we are serving the world,” he emphasized.
Trump expressed concern over the ceasefire’s stability, comparing it to a doctor saying there is only a one percent chance of survival for a patient.
He praised recent U.S. military operations against Iran, stating that the American forces have significantly weakened Iran’s capabilities. “Their navy is finished. They have no air force. They have no anti-aircraft systems,” he asserted.
Trump highlighted the dangerous missions undertaken by U.S. pilots during the strikes, noting that all bombs hit their targets and detonated deep within granite mountains.
These remarks were made during the announcement of new initiatives related to maternal health, reproductive services, and childcare, presented ahead of Mother’s Day.
He announced that the Department of Labor will create a new fertility benefit option separate from health insurance for companies, as most healthcare plans do not cover these services. This will be an additional option available for those in need.
Trump also praised Senator Katie Britt for raising issues related to IVF following a court ruling in Alabama, which impacted IVF treatments. “I became the father of fertility,” he remarked.
Additionally, he mentioned the launch of a new website providing information on fertility care, pregnancy, and childcare.
Discussing his relationship with China and President Xi Jinping, Trump stated, “We are doing very well with China. I have a very good relationship with President Xi Jinping.” On the Taiwan issue, he noted that it always arises, adding, “I think everything will be fine.”
