Washington, August 10: President Donald Trump has called for compensation from Iran, holding the nation accountable for the devastation and loss of life in the Middle East.
Trump stated that Iran should be responsible for the suffering endured by the people of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Gaza. He reiterated his previous assertion that the United States would seek reparations for conflicts involving Tehran.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump noted that while Iran is now requesting compensation, it has never mentioned this in any prior discussions or meetings.
He remarked, “I too am demanding compensation from Iran for all those they have killed and severely injured with roadside bombs and in various battles, including the families of those killed on the USS Cole and thousands of others lost in combat.”
Trump also emphasized that Iran should compensate the families of protesters killed in the country over the past 50 years, as well as the 52,000 individuals who have died in the last five months.
He instructed his representatives to include this demand in any future negotiations. Additionally, Trump set new conditions for talks with Iran, insisting on compensation for past grievances. Previously, Tehran had claimed that the U.S. must provide reparations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei outlined specific objectives expected to be achieved, including enhancing the defensive security capabilities of Iran’s military and preparing effective responses to any conventional or modern threats against the nation.
He also mentioned the integration of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters as another goal.
