Washington, May 20: President Donald Trump stated that Iran is “very eager to make a deal” following recent U.S. military strikes. He claimed that Tehran’s military capabilities have been significantly diminished. Trump emphasized that Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Speaking at the annual Congressional picnic at the White House, Trump addressed various topics in a rally-like manner, including the economy, foreign policy, and his administration’s agenda, frequently mentioning tensions in Iran and the Middle East.
“We will end this war very quickly. They want to make a deal. They are tired of this,” he said.
The President explained that U.S. actions were necessary because “they have nuclear weapons on their mind, and we will not let them take those weapons.” He expressed confidence in the progress made, stating, “I believe we will complete this very soon, and they will not have nuclear weapons. Hopefully, we will resolve this in a good way.”
Trump asserted that Iran’s military strength has suffered greatly. “We have destroyed their navy. Their air force is gone. Their anti-aircraft capabilities have been eliminated. They have lost all their war materials,” he noted.
While he refrained from directly stating that Iran’s leaders have been eliminated, he hinted at the significant impact on their leadership.
These remarks were made during a festive event on the South Lawn of the White House, attended by members of Congress, cabinet officials, and their families. Trump also discussed his administration’s economic achievements and legislative successes during the gathering.
He claimed that the stock market has reached “all-time highs” 67 times during his tenure and noted that inflation had dropped to 1.6 percent before the recent tensions in the Middle East caused energy prices to rise.
“America is thriving, America is winning, and America’s respect is growing. Perhaps it has never been this way before,” Trump stated.
He also highlighted his administration’s “Great Beautiful Bill,” a package of significant policies that includes no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime, and changes to estate taxes for farmers and small businesses.
Additionally, Trump praised First Lady Melania Trump for her efforts in advancing legislation related to foster care and child safety. Earlier that evening, Melania had urged the Senate to pass the “Fostering the Future Act,” which has already been approved by the House of Representatives.
