Agartala, August 15: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stated on Friday that the tricolor represents the nation’s sovereignty, pride, governance, consciousness, patriotism, and selflessness. He urged citizens to uphold the dignity and respect of the national flag.
While addressing the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally and ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ event at Maharaja Bir Bikram College, the Chief Minister reflected on the loss of lives during the partition, the struggles faced by women, and the disappearance of children. He emphasized the importance of remembering these events, as many endured severe hardships and pain due to the partition.
Saha noted that after the partition in 1947, millions from Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim communities crossed borders, facing immense challenges upon arriving in India. The partition also led to unrest, communal riots, and numerous other issues. He mentioned that since 2021, ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’ has been observed to honor the victims of that era.
He pointed out that people often overlook the importance of their country in daily life. However, when a foreign enemy attacks or the nation faces a crisis, the significance of the country becomes evident to everyone. The Chief Minister stated that the nation must come first. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched, marking its fifth year. This initiative has sparked enthusiasm across the country, encouraging citizens to display the national flag at their homes.
Saha emphasized that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign plays a crucial role in strengthening the emotional connection between citizens and the flag, while also paying tribute to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice during the freedom struggle. He stressed the necessity of educating the youth about the horrors of partition, as they have not witnessed its impact firsthand, to prevent such events from occurring again.
He reiterated that the national flag is not merely a piece of cloth or a combination of three colors. Understanding its significance and greatness is essential. Development is paramount. If we remain united and empower ourselves, both the state and the nation will progress.
Furthermore, he stated that the national flag is a source of pride for every citizen, embodying the sacrifices of those who fought for freedom. He concluded by reiterating that the tricolor symbolizes sovereignty, pride, governance, consciousness, patriotism, and selflessness, urging everyone to maintain the dignity and respect of the national flag.
