Mumbai, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : The news of veteran actor Nana Patekar’s passing has sent shockwaves through the Indian film industry. From Bollywood to the South Indian cinema community, heartfelt tributes have been shared on social media. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expressed its sorrow with a post featuring Patekar’s image, stating, “A great artist has left us. AICWA prays for the peace of Nana Patekar‘s soul and strength for his family and fans to bear this loss. The Indian film industry has lost one of its greatest sons. A whole era has ended with his passing at his home in Goa.”
The AICWA highlighted Patekar’s immense contributions to Indian cinema, particularly in Bollywood. They noted, “His impact on Indian cinema is immeasurable. His performances were consistently outstanding, and his characters were always powerful. From ‘Parinda’ and ‘Krantiveer’ to ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’ and ‘Welcome,’ he immersed himself in his roles so deeply that audiences often forgot they were watching a performance. Who can forget the line from ‘Krantiveer’ about how ‘a mosquito can turn a man into a eunuch’? He was the voice of the common man, but as a person, Nana was even greater.”
The association also remembered Patekar’s humility and generosity. “He was always ready to help those in need and lived a simple life in a modest apartment. Despite his fame, he remained grounded and free of arrogance. Today, there is a wave of mourning across Bollywood and the entire Indian film industry. Crew members, technicians, junior artists, and actors alike are grieving, for his nature was the kindest. I find myself at a loss for words in the face of this loss.”
They concluded, “Nana, you will always be remembered. As long as this world exists, Nana Patekar’s name will live on. The film industry will never forget your contributions, and the nation will remember you for you were truly a unique individual. Om Shanti.”
Actor Adil Hussain also shared his shock on social media, stating, “I cannot believe Nana Patekar is gone. I received this news through a phone call and woke up speechless. Dear Nana ji, I will remember you fondly; your work has inspired many, including me. May God bless your soul. Rest in peace.”
South Indian actor Junior NTR expressed his condolences on X, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the news of Nana Patekar’s passing. He was one of the finest actors in Indian cinema. Each of his characters exuded unmatched honesty and intensity. His acting never felt like acting; it was life unfolding on screen. A remarkable artist whose contributions to Indian cinema will be remembered for generations.”
Legendary actor Rajinikanth posted a heartfelt note, stating, “I cannot believe my dear friend Nana Patekar is no longer with us. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.”
Actor Farhan Akhtar shared a touching tribute on Instagram, posting a photo of Patekar and writing, “Some people leave a void when they are gone. Nana Patekar was one such person, whose presence filled a room. He was a talented artist of his generation who captivated our attention the moment he appeared on screen. His work in the arts and commitment to social causes will continue to inspire us all. You will always be remembered, sir.”
