Transforming Lives: How the PM-FME Scheme Changed Girdharis Fortune in Sheikhpura

Mumbai, May 17: The Prime Minister’s Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME) scheme is changing the fortunes of rural and small entrepreneurs. A successful example of this initiative is Girdhari Kumar from Sheikhpura district, who has established a thriving brand named ‘Mahakal Masala Traders’ through hard work and government support.

In an interview, Girdhari shared, “My business was very limited before. After joining the PM-FME scheme, I received financial support, training, and guidance. I expanded my operations, and today my brand is recognized not only in Sheikhpura but also in several surrounding districts and cities.”

According to Girdhari, the key features of his spices are purity and quality. He stated, “We produce completely pure and fresh spices. This is why customers trust our products, and demand is continuously rising.”

Currently, he supplies his spices not only in Sheikhpura but also in Patna, Nawada, Lakhisarai, and Begusarai, among other districts. Since benefiting from the scheme, Girdhari’s income has significantly increased.

He noted that while his business was once limited, he is now self-sufficient and has created jobs for others. His small factory employs local youth and women, linking many families to a sustainable livelihood.

The PM-FME scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to formalize micro food processing units, provide financial assistance, and offer modern technology and training. Under this scheme, entrepreneurs benefit from a 35% subsidy, loan facilities, and market linkages.

Girdhari expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, stating, “The PM-FME scheme has been a blessing for those who dream big from small beginnings. It has made me self-reliant and given me the courage to move forward.”

Many other beneficiaries in Sheikhpura district are also writing their success stories under the PM-FME scheme. With the efforts of the district administration and the Bihar government, small entrepreneurs are contributing to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
