Tragic Fire at Amravati Hospital Claims Lives of Three Newborns

Mumbai, August 24: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire at the District Women’s Hospital in Amravati, which resulted in the deaths of three newborns. He has ordered a high-level investigation into the incident and announced financial assistance for the affected families.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Fadnavis stated, “The incident of three children losing their lives in the fire at Amravati’s District Women’s Hospital is extremely tragic and heartbreaking. We share in the grief of their families.”

He confirmed that the health administration has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. Strict action will be taken against those found responsible. Both the Health Minister and Secretary have been instructed to visit Amravati today.

Additionally, Chief Minister Fadnavis mentioned, “The families of the deceased will receive financial assistance of 500,000 rupees from the state government. Instructions have also been given to the Amravati District Collector to provide medical treatment for the injured children at government expense. Fortunately, 36 children were successfully rescued from the fire.”

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also expressed condolences regarding the incident. In a post on ‘X’, he remarked, “The unfortunate deaths of newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit due to the fire at Amravati’s District Women’s Hospital is deeply painful. I share in the grief of families who have lost their innocent children. May they find the strength to endure this sorrow during such a tragic time. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured children.”

BJP leader and former MP Navneet Rana visited the hospital following the incident. He stated, “Even if a fire occurs, there should be systems in place to manage it. The sprinklers should have activated immediately. How did the ventilator explode? If any wrongdoing is found in the investigation, those responsible will not be spared. We will demand compensation from the government, but the lives lost cannot be valued.”
