Tragic Farewell: Pratik Yadav Laid to Rest in Lucknow

Lucknow, May 14: Pratik Yadav, the younger son of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, was laid to rest on Thursday. His last rites took place at Baikunth Dham in Bhainsakund, Lucknow. In a somber atmosphere, family, relatives, and supporters bid him a heartfelt farewell. Pratik’s father-in-law, Arvind Bisht, a senior journalist, performed the last rites.

After lighting the funeral pyre, he became emotional, wiping his tears with a towel and offering a final salute to his son-in-law. The cremation ground was filled with sorrow. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also arrived at Baikunth Dham to pay his last respects to his younger brother. Akhilesh, along with Dharmendra Yadav and Aditya Yadav, placed wood on the pyre for the final viewing. Aparna Yadav and their two daughters, Prathma and Padmaja, were also present.

At the cremation site, Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav were seen sitting together, accompanied by Pratik’s daughters. Akhilesh’s son, Arjun Yadav, was also spotted with the family. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak attended the funeral as well. Before the cremation, Pratik’s final procession began from his residence, attended by thousands of supporters. Shouts of “Pratik Yadav Amar Rahein” echoed during the procession.

Several leaders from the Samajwadi Party and BJP were present at the last journey. Aditya Yadav, Shivpal Singh Yadav’s son, carried the bier, while Dharmendra Yadav stayed by the family’s side throughout. Pratik’s body was displayed outside the Samajwadi Party office for a brief period before the procession. Following tradition, the body was placed on the ground five times before reaching the cremation site.

Pratik Yadav was also known for his love of animals. His wife, Aparna Yadav, placed a picture of their pet dogs and monkey on the hearse, which moved many attendees. On Wednesday night, Aparna sat with their daughters by Pratik’s body. Earlier, several leaders, including Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, Dimple Yadav, and Shivpal Yadav, visited their home to pay their respects.
