
Hyderabad, April 27: A tragic accident occurred on Monday evening at a cement brick company located in the outskirts of Hyderabad. A massive crane collapsed due to strong winds, resulting in the deaths of five workers and injuring twelve others.
The incident took place in Mahalingpuram, within the Shankarpally mandal of Ranga Reddy district. Upon receiving news of the accident, police swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. The injured were taken to a hospital in Shankarpally, with two of them reported to be in critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as Ali Hussain (35), Nagendra (30), Sajid (32), Mithun, and Sonu. Their bodies have been sent to the government hospital in Chevella for post-mortem examinations.
According to officials, there were 17 workers present at the site during the accident. The crane, which was used to lift cement bricks, lost its balance and fell due to the stormy weather and high winds in the area.
Senior police officials visited the site, and a police officer confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
In a separate incident, a severe fire broke out at an automobile service center in Amberpet, Hyderabad. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. The fire erupted at the Mahindra Service Center, and firefighters promptly arrived to combat the blaze.
Despite several hours of relentless efforts by police and firefighters, they struggled to control the fire. The entire area was engulfed in thick smoke, causing panic among residents in nearby neighborhoods.
Additionally, in another incident in the Gachibowli area of Hyderabad, a JCB operator lost his life in an accident while working on demolishing a building. Debris from the structure fell on him, causing severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Zakir. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
