New Delhi, May 7: A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh, when a boat capsized in the Yamuna River with approximately nine people on board. Following the accident, three individuals were rescued safely, but the others were swept away by the current. On Thursday, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered two bodies.
The incident took place near Kutubpur Patiya village in the Kurara police station area. The boat lost balance suddenly, leading to the disaster. The rescue teams retrieved the body of a woman named Brajarani first, followed by that of a 14-year-old girl, Archana. Despite the recovery of these two bodies, rescue operations are ongoing as four children, aged between 5 and 15 years, remain missing.
Since the incident, NDRF and SDRF teams have been conducting continuous search operations at the site. Additionally, local divers and flood PAC teams have entered the river to search for the missing individuals. However, heavy rainfall and rising water levels have posed significant challenges to the rescue efforts.
The area has been thrown into chaos following the incident. Families are distraught, and a somber atmosphere prevails in the village as everyone prays for the safety of their missing loved ones. Authorities have increased security in the region, monitoring access to the riverbank closely.
According to local administration, senior district officials and police are present at the scene, overseeing the entire rescue operation. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police are closely monitoring the situation and providing all possible assistance to the rescue teams.
