Tragic Accidents on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway Result in Traffic Chaos and Fatalities

Mumbai, March 21: The Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway-48 witnessed a day of tragic accidents on Saturday. In the Vasai area, two significant road incidents occurred within hours, leading to severe traffic disruptions. Tragically, three people lost their lives, and one individual sustained serious injuries.

These incidents have once again raised serious concerns about speeding and reckless driving on the highway.

The first accident took place in the Sasupada area of Vasai, where six vehicles collided violently. The crash involved a container, two cars, a tempo, a bus, and a pickup truck. The impact was so severe that several drivers were trapped in their cabins. Local residents and highway traffic police quickly arrived at the scene to initiate a rescue operation. After considerable effort, the trapped individuals were freed. Ramesh Yadav, the driver of the Eicher tempo, was injured and has been admitted to Orbit Hospital.

According to police officer Devendra Ghosalkar, an investigation into the causes of the accident is underway. The incident caused a significant traffic jam on the highway, leading to considerable inconvenience for travelers.

Just hours after the first accident, another serious incident occurred at the Waghooba Ghat in Dhekale around 6 PM. An unidentified vehicle collided forcefully with a motorcycle, resulting in the immediate deaths of all three riders. Highway police arrived promptly to conduct an investigation and initiated further actions. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Manor Rural Hospital. Following the accident, the driver of the offending vehicle fled the scene. Police are actively searching for the suspect and reviewing nearby CCTV footage.

These two consecutive accidents have raised serious concerns regarding safety measures and traffic control on the highway. Local residents have called for increased monitoring and stricter speed control measures to enhance vigilance in accident-prone areas and prevent such incidents in the future.
