
Mumbai, March 17: A tragic incident occurred during the Eid holidays when a 17-year-old boy visiting from Dubai collided his rented SUV with a scooter in the Chandivali area, resulting in the death of a young boy. The police have detained the minor and presented him before the Juvenile Justice Board, which has ordered him to be sent to a correctional facility until March 27.
According to reports, the accused was driving a rented SUV when he struck the scooter. The 15-year-old passenger, Pratik Mane, died on the spot, causing panic among local residents.
Immediately after the accident, the suspect fled the scene. However, the Sakinaaka police acted swiftly and apprehended him within hours. Following his detention, he was brought before the Juvenile Justice Board, which mandated his placement in a correctional home until the end of March.
During the investigation, police discovered that the accused attempted to mislead authorities. His family initially claimed he had gone to Mira Road, but he was later found hiding at a relative’s house in Chandivali.
The police have also issued a notice to the accused’s friend, Mohammad Anas Moharmali Khan (22), who rented the SUV for a day. Authorities are investigating his involvement and will determine the next steps.
Despite the minor’s age, the police stated that they are following all legal procedures due to the severity of the incident. The family of the victim is currently in shock.
