Traffic Restrictions in Hyderabad for Jumma-tul-Wida Prayers

Hyderabad, March 19: In anticipation of Jumma-tul-Wida, the last Friday of Ramadan, the Hyderabad police have implemented extensive traffic restrictions around the historic Mecca Masjid.

On Friday, March 20, from 8 AM to 4 PM, all roads surrounding Charminar will be completely closed to vehicles. Key routes leading from Charminar to Madina, Murghi Chowk, and Shalibanda will also be shut down.

According to police, traffic diversions will be in effect at several locations within the Charminar zone. Vehicles heading to Charminar from Nayapul will be redirected towards City College via Madina Junction. Meanwhile, vehicles coming from Nagulchinta and Shalibanda will be diverted at Himmatpura Junction and Volga Hotel T-Junction.

Traffic from Chowk Maidan towards Charminar will be redirected towards Kotla Aliza or Mughalpura, while vehicles arriving from the Moosa Bowli area will be sent towards Khilewat Ground, Rajesh Medical Hall, Shalibanda, and Fateh Darwaza Road.

Traffic heading to Gulzar House from Aitabar Chowk will be diverted towards Mandi Mir Alam Market or Bibi Bazaar. Additionally, vehicles coming from Mitti Ka Sher towards Gulzar House will be stopped and redirected to Ghansi Bazaar.

Changes have also been made to the operation of RTC buses. Buses heading to Charminar will only operate up to the Afzalgunj bus stop, while other buses will take alternative routes.

The police have arranged parking at six locations in the South Zone to facilitate worshippers.

Furthermore, traffic restrictions have also been imposed near Jama Masjid in Secunderabad. Subhash Road will be closed from 9 AM to 1 PM, with traffic diverted towards Ranigunj and Paradise Junction.

Every year, thousands gather at Mecca Masjid, Jama Masjid, and other major mosques in the city to offer prayers on Jumma-tul-Wida. In light of this occasion, the Telangana government has declared an optional holiday, following a request from the Telangana Waqf Board.
