New Delhi, April 24: The Ministry of Rural Development has announced plans for three Sarso Melas in the NCR, scheduled between October 2026 and February 2027. This initiative aims to promote rural livelihoods, women’s entrepreneurship, and traditional crafts, as stated by an official on Friday.
The Sarso Livelihood Mela 2026 will take place from October 22 to November 6, 2026, at Leisure Valley Park in Gurugram. Following this, the Sarso Food Festival 2026 is set for November 21 to December 8, 2026, at Sundar Nursery in New Delhi. An official statement confirmed these details.
The Sarso Livelihood Mela 2027 is scheduled at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi from February 1 to February 28, 2027.
These melas are significant events under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission, providing a national platform for rural self-help groups (SHGs) and artisans.
According to the statement, these fairs will offer a platform for SHG members from across the country, enabling rural women to connect directly with urban consumers, thereby enhancing their income and identity.
A large number of women entrepreneurs representing various states and union territories are expected to participate, showcasing diverse regional products, including handlooms, handicrafts, natural and organic goods, and regional cuisines.
The initiative aims to strengthen the rural economy by providing direct market access, promoting ‘Vocal for Local’ and self-reliant India, and supporting capacity building in packaging, branding, and marketing.
