TGT-PGT Candidates Suspend Protest Following Chief Ministers Assurance

Prayagraj, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : Candidates for the TGT and PGT positions in Prayagraj have decided to suspend their protest after several months of demanding additional opportunities under the old rules. The decision came after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath intervened and publicly assured them of a chance to take the exams. Following this, district administration officials provided juice to the protesters, effectively ending their hunger strike, and the atmosphere in the Directorate premises turned celebratory.

Atul Mishra, one of the candidates, expressed relief after three months of a gradual hunger strike, with four of their peers on a fast for 18 days. “The Chief Minister has assured us that we will be given an opportunity under the old rules. This is why the District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma and Police Commissioner Piyush Mordi have ended our hunger strike. We are very happy that the Chief Minister listened to us and granted us a chance. We are now waiting for a written assurance,” he stated.

Mishra explained that they were fighting for an opportunity in the PGT exams based on the same qualifications and patterns. They had been surrounding the Directorate for three days, with four candidates on a continuous hunger strike. On Tuesday, during a job appointment ceremony, Chief Minister Adityanath announced that those protesting would be given opportunities, leading to the end of the hunger strike. “We are celebrating now, and we have full faith that if the Chief Minister has said it, the opportunity will surely come,” he added.

Ajit Pratap, another candidate, echoed this sentiment, stating, “The Chief Minister has assured us of an opportunity. We are all very happy and celebrating. We believe that if the CM has said it, then we should receive chances under the old rules.”

Another candidate remarked on the Chief Minister’s statement regarding a favorable decision for their movement. “We are very pleased, and the hunger strike has ended. Everyone is celebrating with sweets. We just hope to receive the notice soon; that would be enough for us.”
