Team India Aims for Strong Performance in T20 Series Against West Indies

After winning the ODI series, Team India is set to face West Indies in a T20 series, starting in Lucknow.

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian cricket team is gearing up for a five-match T20 International series against the West Indies, following their recent triumph in the ODI series, where they clinched victory 2-1. The first T20 match is scheduled for Tuesday at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Since 2009, India and the West Indies have faced each other in 31 T20 Internationals. India has emerged victorious in 20 of those encounters, while the West Indies have won 10, with one match ending in no result. Their last meeting in this format occurred during the T20 World Cup 2026, where India secured a win by five wickets, despite a commendable effort from the Caribbean side. The West Indies batted first, scoring 195 runs for four wickets in their 20 overs, but India successfully chased down the target with four balls to spare.

Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, the Indian team arrives on the back of a gold medal win at the 2026 Asian Games. Abhishek Sharma is in excellent form, having played a blistering innings in the final against Pakistan. However, both Vaibhav and Sanju Samson struggled with the bat during the Asian Games and will be eager to make an impact in this series.

Tilak Varma also shone in the Asian Games final, scoring an unbeaten 51 runs off just 22 balls. Nevertheless, the bowling attack may lack experience, with Arshdeep Singh leading the pace department alongside Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav.

On the other hand, the West Indies will be looking to bounce back after a tough ODI series. Players like Sherfane Rutherford, Shimron Hetmyer, and Romario Shepherd are expected to deliver strong performances. Shai Hope aims to maintain his impressive ODI form in the T20 format, while the West Indies will also be counting on their bowlers for improved performances in this series.
