Mumbai, April 17: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has recently become a hot topic on social media rather than on the field. Influencer Tanya Chatterjee claimed that Chahal sent her a message on Instagram, sparking a significant controversy and igniting debates online.
In a conversation, the influencer responded to the allegations. She stated, “It was just a normal message. There was nothing inappropriate or controversial about it. I have a lot of respect for him. He is a dedicated Indian player who works hard for the country. He simply called me ‘cute,’ and we were discussing the IPL.”
Tanya further explained that during their conversation, the topic of Chahal came up, and she shared it candidly. “I had no intention of defaming Chahal. I interact with my friends in a similar way. I still possess that innocence. The child within me is very much alive. He complimented me, and I appreciated it; that was the end of it.”
The actress expressed her confusion over how a defamation case could arise. “I did not defame him; in fact, I praised him,” she said. “Chahal is an Indian cricketer playing in the IPL. I am not intruding into his personal life or anything else. It was merely a compliment that I shared innocently.”
Tanya clarified that the incident occurred in 2023. “If I had intended to do something, I would have done it then. Everyone knew he was married at that time. He messaged me, which I was unaware of until later. If I had been associated with a PR team, I might have known. I don’t have any PR.”
The influencer mentioned that her lawyer is handling the matter and advised her against saying too much. However, she still believes that Chahal did message her. “It was a sweet message, and he sent it not just once, but twice.”
