Patna, April 17: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Bihar has ramped up its efforts against corruption. Recently, 13 fugitives involved in various corruption cases across the state have surrendered to the authorities.
These individuals had been evading judicial proceedings for an extended period, prompting courts to issue arrest warrants against them.
Under mounting legal pressure and enforcement actions, all 13 accused turned themselves in to special courts during February and March 2026.
The Bureau reported that seven of the accused—Bablu Singh (Begusarai), Ram Avatar Ram (Rohtas), Harendra Ram (Saran), Amaresh Jha (Vaishali), Ravindra Prasad (Saharsa), Virendra Prasad Mandal (Muzaffarpur), and Rinku Devi (Rohtas)—are implicated in cases related to the misuse of government positions.
Meanwhile, six others—Raj Kumar (Lakhisarai), Sharda Prasad Singh (Bhagalpur), Sunil Kumar Rai (Muzaffarpur), Manish Kumar (Muzaffarpur), Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh (Civil Surgeon, Jehanabad), and Pranay Kumar (Muzaffarpur)—are involved in trap cases where they were allegedly caught red-handed accepting bribes.
These cases span several districts, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur.
The Vigilance Department had previously warned all absconding accused to surrender by the end of March or face stringent legal actions.
Following this compliance, the department is now preparing to intensify its enforcement campaign in April.
Officials have reiterated that the anti-corruption drive will continue with full vigor. The Bureau emphasized that no fugitive will escape the law, and there will be no leniency in corruption cases at any level. Legal actions will be strictly pursued to ensure accountability.
This initiative reflects the growing rigor and organized enforcement approach against corruption within Bihar’s administrative framework.
Earlier in the day, the Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau uncovered a bribery racket in Purnia district, arresting two government employees while they were accepting a bribe of ₹40,000.
The accused, revenue employee Lal Babu Rajak and record employee Rumi Kundu, were caught during a trap set by the Vigilance team at the Purnia East Block office.
